Expectations

Image
We had lots of success this week in achieving our goals and working hard to make them happen. It was cool because when things we planned for fell through, the Lord opened new doors that weren't there before and actually allowed us to do more than we had originally planned. He will consecrate our efforts as long as we act in faith! Also had a great exchange here in Karlovac and Zone Conference is coming up this week so stoked for that! I learned some important lessons about expectations this week while on an exchange. Every day of our lives, there are expectations set by ourselves and others for how we will act, what we will say and do, and what we should accomplish. Something I've seen on my mission is that sometimes these expectations can get exaggerated or away from the expectations that God has for us. His expectations are, of course, far more important in the long run. For example, we might expect learning a language to a certain ability, or getting a certain grade in a cla...

The Book of Mormon

This week went by crazy fast! I'm enjoying Karlovac and learning more about the missionary work and language these past few days. We have amazing members here that I am constantly learning from, their testimonies are so strong. We also had some cool experiences talking to people "by the way" on buses and walking to and from appointments. Grateful for every day I get to serve.  I really love the Book of Mormon. I used to not be able to say that truthfully haha, it was more of a chore that needed to be done for a long time. But now I wake up and have a DESIRE to open that book and hear what God wants to teach me. And many times what I read is as much for others I meet as it is for me. I love the peace I feel when I start out the day on my knees in prayer and take the time to read the Book of Mormon. It shapes everything I do, every decision I make that day. If you're not reading the Book of Mormon every day, make time for it! This isn't just a commandment from the p...

Treasuring Miracles

First up, tesla taxi is a miracle worker. And, it turns out it's no more expensive than a regular taxi?! Basically we met 2 very cool guys driving tesla taxi this week, one of which had been baptized Orthodox but had left the church and searching for truth.. so we shared our message, had a nice discussion for the rest of the ride, and agreed to meet up to talk again and learn more! Needless to say, I forsee many more tesla taxi rides in our future. Second, Elder Strickler coming here motivated those people we haven't seen in a while to come out to meet him! It was great seeing so many people this week and getting the opportunity to teach lots of lessons. We worked hard, walked a lot in the furnace that is Podgorica, and had a successful week!  Today I want to share something I learned in Sunday school this week. In our lives, God gives us each witnesses and miracles as we seek for them in faith. For example, in Moses' time, many people saw the Red Sea part before them. Or t...
