Worshipping God

We talked this Sunday at church about worshipping God and the first question that came to my mind was, "What does my worship look like?"

When I think of the word "worship", the first thing I picture is kneeling, singing, or praying. Yes, those are all parts of worship! But as I studied the Book of Mormon this week, I found a verse that broadened my perspective,

Mosiah 4:19 reads, "For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have?"

Thinking about these words led me to two important gospel truths:
1.)We are all children of our Heavenly Father.
2.) We show God we love Him as we serve one another. (In other words, we worship God through serving His children)

So this week as I went about my missionary work, it wasn't just teaching a lesson or calling through phone numbers or trying to start conversations on the street. In each of my everyday activities, I saw opportunities to worship my Heavenly Father by serving others. And the effect that had on me was pretty amazing. Everything I did, even the simple tasks, took on an added depth and meaning as I thought about how it reflected my love for God.

"When we look at our lives and see a hundred things to do, we feel overwhelmed. When we see one thing—loving and serving God and His children, in a hundred different ways—then we can work on those things with joy."

So give it a try! It's amazing how it will change your days, then your weeks and months, and eventually your life.
